Coney Island, is Brooklyn’s own seaside islet. Formerly a separated island from Brooklyn’s mainland it has since been connected with the construction of the Belt Parkway. Coney Island is a summertime attraction to residents and visitors. With beaches, amusements parks, and an expansive boardwalk the area is quite popular for outdoor activity. Set to open in the fall of 2014 is a new residential building Coney Commons that will also include a large community center within it.
